PathwaysTM, located in Kalispell, Montana, began its high standard of care when it opened its doors in 1994. Pathways provides acute inpatient services for Northwest Montana clients who have mental health and/or substance abuse issues. This 40-bed facility offers clinically effective treatment through collaborative efforts of a team that includes psychiatrists, addictionologists, certified licensed addiction counselors, licensed therapists, psychiatric nurses and mental health specialists. Each staff member is dedicated to delivering results-oriented treatment in a caring and confidential environment.

Pathways offers a free weekly after-care support group that focuses on disorder education and crisis planning in a group setting. Bridging the Gap meets every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The Pathways psychiatric program is carried out during a short-term stay. It is designed to help people with emotional and psychiatric problems stabilize, receive appropriate medications if needed, learn healthy coping skills and develop effective plans for successful transition back to their communities.
- Daily meeting with a psychiatrist
- Counselor assigned to the patient
- Chemical dependency evaluation, if needed
- Family meetings as indicated
- All therapeutic services available to patients in general
- After-care coordination
Inpatient Chemical Dependency
Pathways provides 24-hour medically monitored detoxification as well as short term rehabilitation services.
For individuals who are admitted either for detox as a distinct service or as the beginning step to our chemical dependency rehabilitation program.
- Daily visit by a medical physician
- Around-the-clock nursing monitoring
- Medication administration by physician order
- Full therapeutic services, available as tolerated by the patient
- ASAM Level 3.7
Pathways provides a co-occurring disorders program to treat both psychological/emotional and chemical dependency issues concurrently. Our staff helps patients identify the interdependent relationships between their mental health and chemical dependency issues.
The adolescent program is conducted in a separate wing of the treatment center from the adults. It is designed to assess, stabilize and coordinate ongoing care for adolescents and their families in crisis. Simultaneous capability and case coordination help families, agencies and placements continue ongoing care of the child.
